HOV Lane (Diamond) Sign
A white diamond marks a high-occupancy vehicle lane reserved for buses, carpools, and sometimes bikes.
What This Sign Means
The diamond symbol — on a sign or painted on the pavement — marks a reserved lane. Posted tabs state who may use it (e.g. buses only, vehicles with 2+ occupants) and during what hours.
What You Should Do
Stay out of the lane unless your vehicle qualifies during the posted hours. Cross into it only where the lane markings are broken.
Knowledge Test Tip
A painted white diamond on the road means the same as the sign: reserved lane. Both versions appear in test questions.
