Warning Signs
Railway Crossing Advance Warning Sign
A yellow circle with an X and 'RR' warns that a railway crossing is ahead — prepare to slow or stop.
What This Sign Means
This is the only round warning sign in common use, posted well before the tracks so you have time to slow down. The crossbuck marks the tracks themselves.
What You Should Do
Reduce speed, scan ahead for the crossing, and be prepared to stop. In winter, remember tracks are often icier than the surrounding road.
Knowledge Test Tip
Shape question alert: round = railway advance warning. It's one of the most-tested sign shapes in Alberta.
