Warning Signs
Deer Crossing Sign
A yellow diamond with a deer warns of wildlife frequently crossing the road in this area.
What This Sign Means
Wildlife collisions are a leading cause of crashes on Alberta highways, especially at dawn and dusk. These signs mark known crossing corridors.
What You Should Do
Scan both ditches, slow down at dawn and dusk, and be ready to brake firmly in a straight line. If a collision is unavoidable, braking hard is usually safer than swerving into oncoming traffic or the ditch.
Knowledge Test Tip
If you see one deer, expect more — deer travel in groups. Test answers favour 'slow down and be prepared to stop' over 'swerve'.
