Warning Signs
Bicycle Crossing Sign
Warns that a bike route or pathway crosses the road ahead — watch for cyclists entering the roadway.
What This Sign Means
These signs mark locations where multi-use paths or bike routes cross. Cyclists may appear quickly and can be hard to see at dusk.
What You Should Do
Scan both directions of the path, cover your brake, and yield to cyclists in marked crossings. When passing a cyclist on the road, Alberta recommends at least 1 metre of clearance.
Knowledge Test Tip
Test questions also cover sharing the road: cyclists have the same rights and responsibilities as drivers, and you should shoulder-check for them before every right turn.
