Pavement Markings
Yellow Centre Line
Yellow lines separate traffic moving in opposite directions — solid means no passing, broken means passing allowed.
What This Sign Means
A single broken yellow line allows passing when safe. A solid yellow line on your side prohibits passing. A combination line means obey the line nearest your lane.
What You Should Do
Only pass where the line on your side is broken, and only when you can see far enough ahead to complete the pass safely.
Knowledge Test Tip
Combination line rule: if the solid line is on YOUR side, you can't pass; if the broken line is on your side, you can. Tested on nearly every exam.
