Railway Crossing Sign (Crossbuck)

The white X-shaped crossbuck marks the exact location where the road crosses railway tracks.

Qué significa esta señal

A crossbuck is legally equivalent to a yield sign: trains always have the right-of-way. Crossings may add flashing red lights and gates, but many rural Alberta crossings have only the crossbuck.

Qué debes hacer

Slow down, look both ways along the track, and listen. Stop at least 5 metres from the nearest rail if a train is approaching. Never race a train or drive around lowered gates.

Consejo para el examen de conocimientos

Key number: stop no closer than 5 m from the nearest rail. School buses and certain commercial vehicles must stop at all uncontrolled crossings.
